Specifically I wanted to check their download speeds. I just clocked a 100 MB file as coming in at 465 KB/sec That is as good as the big server that I pay to host all of my websites.
When will PHP be upgraded for hosting? I host my website on Yahoo. I plan on doing lots of scripting that generates XML data and PHP scripting is quite different between versions 4 & 5. I am not thrilled with writing two sets of code.
You can write nice code in PHP4 that works well in PHP5. The PHP version won’t be updated too soon on Yahoo or other companies because your site is not the only one on the server and every site has to go through significant changes to shift to PHP5.
Officially PHP4’s end of life was announced in august and the development team doesn’t improve or resolve bugs anymore.

Recommend a web hosting service with sysadmins that will do anything your little heart desires?
Specifically, what I’d like to find in a professional web-hosting service:
0. Unix
1. Mathematica, perl, lisp, scheme, ruby
2. server-side includes for *.html
3. ssh access (including rsync)
4. procmail and pine
5. should look like it’s any domain you own (in my case, yootles.com)
6. should be able to handle a slashdotting (and should have ads that turn on when a bandwidth threshold is hit so that as it requires more bandwidth it pays for itself)
7. ideally no downtime ever
8. a program running on the host that has a phone number and can receive text messages and process them

Im trying to play Wow over a wireless connection and It keeps d/c and also shuts down my internet???
Here’s the deal. I alwayz play World of Warcraft over a wireless connection, but I’m away from home. They have a Netgear WGR614 V.3 wireless router. Everytime I sign into WOW it instantly shuts down the network in the house. I then must reset the router. I have all ports open, I have configured port forwarding and port triggering in the Netgear Router settings. I also have all firewalls turned off on both computers. I am LOST and never encountered a network problem where a computer that is not the host can shutdown the whole internet network?? PLZ help ME. Thank You
