Where is the Host ID embeded on the Network card or Processor ?

I recently purchased a lot of computers off ebay and when hooking them up, found they must have been used to send spam as all the host Id’s are blocked and reported as bad, I’m trying to determine if the host id is on the nic card or on the processor so I can change them and start life anew.

I think what you mean by host id is actually a MAC ID which is a unique identifier for every NIC card. Because host id is a part of IP address which also depends on your subnet mask. And to change your host id, is just by changing your ip address and or subnet mask.

godaddy hosting security

Host profiessional web server at Home?

I need to host a dedicated server. Since I’ve 2 desktops but I only need one, I want to host IIS web server at home running ASP.Net with SQL Server 2005 like godaddy’s dedicated server.

My questions are
1) Is there any web hosting company that can provide DNS service? Can godaddy provide that? Ex. When someone type www.mywebsite.com , I want the user to forward my home static IP.
2) As far as I know most COX ISP doesn’t provide fast upload speed. Can I request to COX to have more upload speed? Or is there any ISP that can provide fast upload speed 2Mbps or higher.

Please do not mention about software prices and security issues.
I’ll be hosting on Windows Server 2003 on my computer. Thank in advanced.

Of course, there are tons of Dns services,I use Enom
you can also use easydns.com
with both, you can manage the nameservers to point to your static Ip
If you are hosting your website at your home server, why would you need a hosting company?
As an advice,it would be better to seperate Dns management and web hosting
By the way all web hosts provide dns and Ip forwarding services even if you dont host with them,yu just need to register the domain with them to have that.

Also,as you mentioned, you can use your ISP to do the ip mapping to your static IP(assuming your ip is assigned by your isp,it’s easy and you dont have to pay anything most of the time) but ISP services are usually meant for personal pages.

Hope I have helped you a little bit.

Can a 15 Years old Buy a Hosting and Domain Without Credit Card?

Hey, I’m Years old and can I buy a Hosting and Domain without using Credit card instead I want to use Paypal. If Yes, Then could you please tell me those Hosting and Domain websites.

Thanks for your Help! =]

For domain, namecheap dot com is a good choice. I prefer it than godaddy. They accept paypal.
Before register domain, search latest “namecheap coupon” to get a little discount.

For hosting, there are many choices. Personally I use hostpc dot come for 1 year, price is good and accept paypal. Chose the lowest package if you are beginner, which is $20+.

How to resolve the problem of exceeding 26 characters in domain name?

I have registered a domain name which is 36 characters long. I didn’t know there’s a restriction with the number of characters in the url. But i have seen some url’s which are more than 26 characters. Could anyone plz tell me how to resolve this problem??? I have changed the dns, ns and everything needed to put it to work. But it wont just respond. All it shows is the parking page when clicked. the url is www.chittagonginternationalmusicfestival.com. If anyone can tell me what can i do to make it work, it’d be a great help. bty… the site is hosted with awardspace.com free hosting. I thought this guys are pretty cool for a free web hosting provider. and i have couple of domains hosted there which are working fine. Plz help.

A domain name can have up to 59 characters. Domain names can only use letters, numbers, and hyphens (”-”). Spaces, punctuation marks, and other symbols are not allowed. A domain name cannot begin or end with a hyphen. IDN (International Domain Names) for .com, .info, .net, .org, .biz, .cc, .tv and .ws can contain d, v and | symbols.

Contact Awardspace.com’s technical support and ask them about it. The limitation could be on their end. Or they just set it up wrong.
